Project Overview and Technical Scope:
Utilities Dynamics was hired by Saks, Inc. in the fall of 1999 to help implement an energy management program that consisted of development and installation of energy monitoring equipment and lighting retrofits/motion detectors installation in the back of house and office areas. The scope of work consisted of multiple tasks, which included the following:
- Utility rebate coordination.
- Utility KYZ Pulse relay coordination and installation. The utility supplies a pulse relay that will isolate the utilities equipment from the end users equipment. The KYZ relay sends a pulse to the energy monitoring equipment so that the customer can sub-meter the utility meter.
- Run CAT 5 Plenium rated cable from utility meter to power monitoring equipment. This required runs thru walls, over ceilings, up floors, etc. (Sometimes up to a 1000 ft. per store.) Run new phone lines and lay them on the phone board. Mount hardware racks and make connects to the existing EMS systems. Confirm configurations of system and commissioning.
- Back of house and offices were retrofitted with T8 lighting and motion sensors. This required us to develop the scope of works, procure material, project manage, and implement the recommendations.
